Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) was founded in 1996 by Korean Government to promote research excellence in the basic sciences. KIAS is located on a 120,000site in Seoul, where its members are provided with a research-friendly environment.

2. Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Those with or expected to receive their Ph.D. degrees in the relevant majors by starting date at KIAS

Qualified under “State Public Officials Act” of Korean Government.

(Disqualifying factors are listed in Article 33.)

Those with no restrictions to international travel, and for Korean male citizens, those who have completed or have been exempted from compulsory military service.

3. Terms of Employment



Period of Appointment

The appointment period may vary according to the matters involving the project.

The relevant project will end in December 2023.

Salary & Benefits

Project Research Fellows are provided with annual salary in accordance with KIAS regulations and covered by Korean national health insurance.

Accommodation may be supported upon request, depending on the availability of vacancies.

5. Required Documents

- Curriculum vitae, Publication list, Research statement, Reference letters from 3 referees

Note that referees are required to directly upload their reference letters via KIAS recruitment website.

To avoid the conflict of interest, KIAS Professors and CMC Distinguished Professors cannot serve as referees.

Applicants are asked to prepare all documents in English, with the exception of reference letters.

7. Additional Information
