for Research Fellow Positions in Mathematics

Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) was founded in 1996 by Korean Government to promote research excellence in the basic sciences. KIAS is located on a 120,000site in Seoul, where its members are provided with a research-friendly environment.

2. Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Those with or expected to receive their Ph.D. degrees in the relevant majors by starting date at KIAS

Qualified under “State Public Officials Act” of Korean Government.

(Disqualifying factors are listed in Article 33.)

Those with no restrictions to international travel, and for Korean male citizens, those who have completed or have been exempted from compulsory military service.

Period of Appointment

The initial appointment for Research Fellow is for two years, with the possibility of a one time renewal of up to two to three additional years depending on research performance and the needs of the research program at KIAS.

Salary & Benefits

Research Fellows are provided with annual salary in accordance with KIAS regulations and covered by Korean national health insurance.

 

Accommodation may be supported upon request, depending on the availability of vacancies.

Note that referees are required to directly upload their reference letters via KIAS recruitment website.

To avoid the conflict of interest, KIAS professors cannot serve as referees.

Applicants are asked to prepare all documents in English, with the exception of reference letters.

7. Additional Information

a. All documents should be submitted by deadline, and if any of a certain applicant’s required documents is missing or incomplete, the applicant’s materials may not be evaluated. (Only the documents listed in 5. Required Documents will be considered in the evaluation process.)

false, the job offer will be withdrawn.

c. The work level and annual salary of successful candidates will comply with KIAS

regulations and guidelines.

d. No candidates may be hired if all applicants are found to be unsuitable during

the screening stage.
